Dunwoody can be defined as the area west of Peachtree Industrial Blvd, north of I-285, and east of GA400 and around the perimeter mall area. On the northeast side Dunwoody extends almost to Holcomb Bridge Rd. Dunwoody is southwest of Norcross, South of Roswell, East of Sandy Springs, and north of Chamblee. Dunwoody is convenient to Perimter Mall, I-285, and GA400 with easy access to Downtown, and Buckhead. This area is one of the most established suburban areas of Atlanta.

Dunwoody is one of the most sought after cities for young families looking for quality public schools. Values are highest in the Vanderlyn and Austin elementary school districts, but Kingsley and Chestnut elementary schools are relatively strong as well. Peachtree Middle School and Dunwoody High School are very well respected in and around the Atlanta Metro areas.

Dunwoody has homes built from the late 1950's to the present. Each pocket of the suburb has it's own feel depending on the decade built, but none varies too far from the 4 bed 2.5 bath "Traditional" home. While many Realtors joke about the fact that every home in Dunwoody is the same, there is something to be said for stability. Dunwoody residents can enjoy several mom and pop shops and make grocery runs to the Dunwoody Village. Closer to I-285/GA400 is The Perimter Mall which houses such stores as Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom, Macy's, Dillards as well as restaurants such as Maggiano's and Cheesecake Factory. The Perimeter Mall area also has the Perimeter Pointe 10 Movie Theater as well as LA Fitness, and Target. Perimeter Mall also hosts The Dunwoody Beer Fest in May which benefits Camp Twin Lakes (a not-for-profit organization offering recreational, therapeutic, and educational programs for children facing serious illnesses and other physical, emotional and life challenges).
